Puchasing The Sick Are Not Healing

Over the last week or so I've been asked numerous times about where/how they can purchase a copy of The Sick Are Not Healing.

So here's the deal. The album is/will be available from only three sources as of next week:

1) Our music store (as of Tuesday, December 15): http://music.iparasite.net
2) Storming The Base (Canada): http://www.stormingthebase.com/details.asp?ProdID=9372
3) Digital Ferret (Philadelphia; as of the 18th when we play there and drop off CDs): http://www2.mailordercentral.com/isotank/prodinfo.asp?number=36499-2

We will be adding more places as we get the distribution thing going, including perhaps Amazon and similar. But at this point the avenues that are available are indie and need your support more than the big companies, so we recommend you buy from one of us!

Digitally right now you will only be able to purchase a download from http://music.iparasite.net. All CD purchases from our music store include an immediate download at no additional charge. We'll look into adding it to iTunes Store, but honestly, it's a much better deal to buy a download from us, plus you'll be supporting us directly (and not middlemen), getting your choice of formats, etc.

If you run a music store/mail order/web shop and are interested in carrying The Sick Are Not Healing, please contact me (Chris) at iparasite at iparasite dot net. Thanks!

Assembling packages for The Sick Are Not Healing

We spent yesterday and today folding and gluing the first 100 copies of The Sick Are Not Healing. I made little time lapse videos with a web cam. Check 'em out:

Folding 100 packages in six hours:

Gluing 100 packages in four hours:

A good portion of these are for our donating supporters. Some will go to stores/mail-order places like Storming The Base and Digital Ferret. The other 100 packages I printed will be assembled early next week for general sales in our online shop + for our show at Digital Ferret on the 18th.

Printing The Sick Are Not Healing

Today I went down to The Arm NYC, a letterpress studio in Brooklyn, and printed 200 packages for The Sick Are Not Healing on a 1968 Vandercook Universal I letterpress. Shikhee (of Android Lust) came with me and photo-documented the occasion.

I, Parasite - The Sick Are Not Healing | December 15, 2009

So it's about time we officially announce that The Sick Are Not Healing is almost complete and will be released on December 15, 2009! After years of work, and the generous donations of fans all over the world, we're proud to have this album become a reality! Thank all of you for your patience and generosity over these tough couple of years. I wish I could have gotten this to you sooner, but right now I'm just happy it's getting out into the world at all in a fashion I feel is respectful to the music!

So here's the scoop. We are in the final stages of printing the packaging. The insert is currently being printed, and we're making an appointment to print the packages on a vintage letterpress. Then we just need to assemble the packages, and get them into your hands. On the release day, the album will also be available in our Digital Store as a download (in MP3, AAC, or better yet: FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, or Apple Lossless). Also, you can now order our CDs from the digital store (which will soon be renamed to simply "Music Store") and you get the download for free instantly!

We will also have copies available (as well as shirts and posters) at our free in-store performance at Digital Ferret on December 18 in Philadelphia, PA.

I'm also really pleased to tell you that Storming The Base in Canada is now accepting pre-orders for the album here: http://www.stormingthebase.com/details.asp?ProdID=9372

A note to all who donated: We will be sending you a complimentary copy of the CD as soon as the packages are assembled. Also on December 15 will will be emailing you download codes so you can download and listen to the album while you wait for the CD to be delivered.

Thank you all again!

I, Parasite, Bret Calder, and Moen Guitar Effects

Moen Guitar Effects did a write up on Bret and I, Parasite recently that we'd like to share with you.
"The Moen Fuzz Moo has been finding it's way onto more pedal boards and stages as the word spreads out about the MOO's powerful tone and value. This time in the very capable hands of Mr. Bret Calder, an incredible bassist from the New York area. Bret has been involved in many notable projects in his career and has now found home in the band I,Parasite, where he has spent the last 5 years honing his sound."

I, Parasite | The Sick Are Not Healing is finally getting mastered!

In mid-2007 I finished mixing the new I, Parasite album, The Sick Are Not Healing. Since then due to my financial situation I haven't been able to move forward with it, which has been incredibly frustrating. But thanks to generous fan donations in addition to a few lucky breaks on my end, we're finally getting it mastered and released! Mastering is set for early May, and we're hoping for a late Summer or early Fall release. We will have an exact release date in the next couple of months. Thank you to all of our supporters - without you this couldn't have happened!

New releases by The Pseudomancer - a side project by Christopher Jon

The Pseudomancer is an old project by Christopher Jon. Originally created in 1998 as a freeform harsh/power noise exploration, it went on hiatus for a while, the name being used for other random material. Now the project has returned to its roots of improved synthesizer noise, but has also expanded to include other things. Heavily inspired by moon musick era Coil, coupled with dark ambient, drone, as well as power/harsh noise. The Pseudomancer : Sun Sinks - Gold Foam - Scorched Eyes http://thepseudomancer.darkvisionmedia.org/album/sun-sinks-gold-foam-scorched-eyes Dark ambient/Drone: $5 - available as VBR MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, and Apple Lossless Also released: Free 26 minute noise release Mind In Flames, available in the same formats: http://thepseudomancer.darkvisionmedia.org/album/mind-in-flames

Welcome to IParasite.net v4

Now with more RSS! Yeah we're lazy and updating the official site after hours of updating every social-networking-webspaz-website in existence doesn't always happen. So we're just taking in RSS feeds from those sites, and stuffing all the content in here. Enjoy. More pages will be coming back soon, including the discography, bio, studio, and stuff (downloads) page. In the meantime check out the photos and videos, and come talk to us on the forum. You can also buy the entire I, Parasite catalog to date in digital format at our digistore. The albums are available in MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, and Apple Lossless. When The Sick Are Not Healing is released it will also be available there, as well as on our physical store over at DARKVISIONMEDIA.com. Problems with the new site? On This Cold Floor digital release

Following on the heels of the Turin + Horseslayer digital re-release, I'm pleased to now offer On This Cold Floor from the I, Parasite Digital Store: http://digistore.iparasite.net/album/on-this-cold-floor It's already available from iTunes and all that, but here you can get it DRM-free in VBR MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, Apple Lossless - and for only $5 (suggested minimum). I still recommend buying the physical CD (now $10), since I think the packaging is quite lovely, but this works in a pinch as well. Happy New Year, correcting mistakes...

Hello and Happy New Year,

2008 was an interesting year for I, Parasite. It went from being basically just me (with Bret as a live-only band member) to a full fledged band. Whoda thunkit? Even back when IP started, it was a two man job, and never quite managed to be a "band" in the traditional sense. Anyway, I'm pretty fucking psyched, because the band sounds great, and we're already working out new song ideas, and the chemistry is perfect. So welcome Bret (for real!), Nino, Brandon, and Mike!

As for those mistakes... I've spent the last few months really examining what's up with I, Parasite, and I want to kick off 2009 on the right foot. First of all, we're getting the new album, The Sick Are Not Healing out, no matter what. It's been done for about two years now, and it needs to get out to you people already!

Also, I've really neglected having and using a proper mailing list. Really stupid of me. Well, we're transferring off of our old obsolete mailing list system, and trying out this thing at ReverbNation. So if you want to stay up to date with all things I, Parasite sign up here:

I%2C%20Parasite
Quantcast

We also have a smaller version of this widget on the main MySpaz page. There's an option to join a Street Team. If you're interested, click it. We're going to make use of that this year.

Also stay tuned for an all new www.iparasite.net (it's about fucking time!), more shows (next one is Feb 15 in Brooklyn, NY with A Storm of Light, Amenra, and Zoroaster), more video, more more more!

I want to thank everyone who's supported I, Parasite over the last 10+ years, and here's to making 2009 the best one yet.

//Christopher Jon
